Episode Synopsis

France's parliament has approved a new law changing how police shootings are handled. Under the new rules, police officers who use their firearms are presumed to have acted lawfully, rather than automatically becoming the subject of a judicial investigation. The legislation has sparked strong criticism from opposition parties and human rights organizations, which argue that it could reduce police accountability and lead to more fatal shootings. Critics note that France already has one of the highest numbers of fatal police shootings in Europe.
