From Handsaw to Scalpel

Episode Synopsis

The modern world of orthopedics never ceases to amaze with its achievements, but our distant ancestors were far from breaking speed records when they had lost a leg... This episode takes us back in time, to when fabrics, leather, wood, and animal bones were all suitable for replacing a ligament, supporting a bruised back, treating a war wound, or replacing a limb. Then, it leads us into today's treatments and reveals what awaits the orthopedics of tomorrow.
